This cigar came in a 10 pack of Honduran large ring cigars I bought on CI. Although it started off a bit spicey in the foot, the cigar became smooth and tasty after the first 1/4 inch or so. It keep that smoothness all the way to the nub, even after 2 relights. The Maxx at 58 ring guage is a large cigar that I am beginning to really enjoy, as they stay cooler, and as a cigar chewer it is a delight! The flavor profile included coffee and a hint of cocoa, but also had a tough of pepper. I usual do not care for a spicey cigar, but this one had just the right amount, just an RCH. Not in the 5 vegas 'A' class but darn good. This is a cigar I would look for as a CI or Cigar.com special.

Gurka G5 Avenger Review...

Usually Gurka is a brand I do not care for, as there flavor profile is one I do not like, but the G5 started off differently. The sweet foot was surprisingly pleason, but after the 1st 1/2 inch or so, I got back to the Gurka I know and do not like. It has the most unpleasant aftertaste of a Lagura cigar tabacco. I would not buy this if it had not come in a 10 pack of large ring Honduran cigars from CI. Too bad!

Big Gears, Abs and Weights
Prior to my workout I went to Berlin Bicycle to have Scott tweak my gears that were skipping...then went to Joe's for a cigar (Joe's Cigar Shop on Facebook) and conversation with Lisa...Smoke a A. Fuente Cidar wrapped Maduro 4 X 40...
At Cycle Concepts tonight we did a tough workout again, two in a row...NICE! 60 minute Spinerval: "Big Gears". This was all Big Cog in Front and 12 in back ranging from standing 45 secs./15 sec sitting X 4, then 3 X 1 minute sustained at 90% Max/ 1 minute rest. then Back to 50 Standing/10 sitting X 3, Finished with 4 short 20 on/ 1 minute rest with a 5 minute cool down.
After Cycle Concepts I went to Healthtrax where I did my ab workout and 1 circuit of upper body weights followed by a LONG HOT TUB STRETCH. ...NICE!
Am going to finish the night with a Whole Wheat Pasta dinner with veggies and Chicken Breast (2 oz)...LOVE IT HOT!

Outdoor Ride
Today my brother and I tried to ride outdoor, but my sirrus broke a spoke about 2 miles into the ride and we had to turn around for home. The weather was perfect and it was too bad the spoke broke. Cannot figure out whether it was broken already and got worse, because I heard a ticking sound from the get go. I will have to take it in to get fixed when I go to Newington Cycle on Tuesday. I am sure it will not cost too much, it is just a pain. Prior to the ride, I did get a ab and shortened lifting workout in at the gym while Nichole was testing.
After the ride, Nick and I had a scotch and a beer in the barn. NICE! I retried a Exile and it had a almost vanilla cream taste in the finish. Fantastic Smoke!

Happy New Year!
On this New Year's Day, my son Brian and I got to go to Healthtrax together, and enjoy a workout, albiet an easy one. I still felt a bit sore today, so another active day of rest is probably a good Idea. We then went to the Mall and bought a pair of sneakers for him that have the Nike+ system for his Ipod. I have written about the Nike+ for pelink4u.org before when I bought it some 3+ years ago. His girlfriend Stephanie also was able to get 3 pair of new shoes and Dieshmann's.
My New Year's resolution is to eat only non-processed foods and reduce the portion size especially with regard to protein in my diet. My overall goal remains the same until I reach it, but needed to make alterations to my diet to make this happen a bit quicker.
My dad is a vegan, and eats nothing with eyes or has a a mother. I am going going to go to that extreme, as I still enjoy the meat in my diet and don't want to loose muscle mass in the process of loosing body mass (FAT). Although it may take me twice to three times as long to loose the weight, I do have the time!
My dad gave me two books on the effect of the vegan diet on Heart Health: I am halfway through one of them, and some interesting data from various studies is used to justify the need for this extreme measure of those patients with heart disease. so far the book has provided no additional insights into heart disease other than what I knew already, and uses mainly empirical data to support the books premiss as of this point in the book.
On a less healthy note, I share a cigar after dinner last night with my brother, brother-In_Law Bobby and Frank (Bob's neighbor) . My bother and I smoke a CAIN by Oliva Robusto. this cigar is currently my new favortie smoke! It has a medium full body with plenty of flavors that show themselves throughout the cigars long smooth smoke. The almost creamy finish is wonderful and can be smoked all the way to the end without the harshness that ruins most other smokes. We were relegated to Bob's garage, and it was extremely brisk outside, but NICE! It may also have added to the extremely long white ash the cigars provided. Am now going to take a week off of smoking Cigars, and only have one a week for a while. Although this is not my NY resolution, I think it wise.

HIlls, Hills and More Hills
60min. of Hill Intervals at Newington Cycle - after core/yoga on Monday at Cycle Concepts in Glastonbury. Tomorrow, Aerobic Cycle in Rocky Hill CC. All this to offset the Christmas Cookies and Candy at work.
Once home, I broke out a Oliva V, 5 X 52 Robusto Maduro, ( CA 92 Rated 2008 Top 25). First 1/4 inch was a bit harsh, but the smell of the wrapper and construction were perfect. Cigar wrapper tasted great and a bit sweet. After the initial light, the cigar settled into a nice smooth spicy sweet taste with a touch of leather and cedar. The longer I smoked it the better it got. Still in the last 1/2 and going...
CAIN by Oliva is still my preferred smoke, as of right now. Have one aging! NICE!
